Dr Cairns’ Retirement

We would like to announce that after 29 years at Swan Surgery, Dr Cairns will be taking semi-retirement from January 2016 and will no longer be looking after his list of 1800 patients.

Dr Cairns has been with the Surgery since 1986 when the Surgery was originally located in Heath Road.  In 1991 the Surgery re-located to Swan Street and Dr Cairns was instrumental in helping design and oversee the build of the modern, purpose-built premises that the Surgery occupies today.

He has looked after generations of local families and patients and is well known within the community.  We wish him well in his well-deserved retirement.

Although Dr Cairns will no longer be looking after his patient list from January onwards, he will maintain a presence at the surgery on a part-time basis during 2016 and will continue to work and help with the development of the surgery in other areas.

We are pleased to announce also that we will have a new partner, Dr Kershaw, joining us in January 2016 who will be taking over responsibility for Dr Cairns’ patient list.  Dr Kershaw has worked as a locum at the surgery for the last few years and so is known to some patients already.  He comes to us with excellent credentials and we are very pleased that he is joining Swan Surgery on a permanent basis.
